Roles in Lantern
Lantern has three roles. Understanding what each role can and cannot do will help you know who to contact when you need something.
| Role | Who has it | What they can do |
|---|---|---|
| Technician | Course-enrolled staff | Complete the training course; view equipment and workflows for their facility; save Favorites; download their own certificate |
| Facility Director | Designated facility lead | All Technician access plus Director Portal: monitor roster progress, download certificates, upload inventory documents, set cohort deadlines, manage progress emails |
| Lantern Admin | Lantern staff only | Full platform access: manage facilities, users, equipment, workflows, courses, and reports |
What you can do as a Technician
- View any equipment or workflow your facility has access to
- Save items to Favorites
- Download your own completion certificate
- Update your own profile (name, password)
- Complete your assigned course
What you cannot do
- Edit equipment records or workflow content
- See other users’ accounts or progress
- Change facility settings
- Enroll yourself in a course (enrollment is handled by the Lantern administrator)
- Access equipment or workflows from facilities you are not assigned to
Who controls what
