Manufacturer notes
BeaconMedaes DiamondCare medical gas outlets pair a gas-specific rough-in with a matching finish (latch valve) assembly. The rough-in is the base mounting component installed inside the wall before finish work. It provides the pipeline connection and accepts DiamondCare finish assemblies in D.I.S.S., Geometric Index, Latch Index, and Pin Index (Diamond) keying styles, wall or console.
Rough-in assembly
The rough-in is modular: a gas-specific 16 gauge steel mounting plate with flanges on all four sides, a 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) raised plaster strike, and a non-removable pin-keying arrangement for each gas. Gas identification is permanently cast into the backplate. Multiple outlets can be ganged on site in any order. A temporary cover keeps debris out during installation.
A machined brass outlet block is permanently attached so the 7 inch (18 cm) long, 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) O.D. type K copper inlet tube can swivel 360 degrees for piping. The inlet tube is labeled with the gas name and color. Gas service identification is also affixed to the face of the rough-in plate.
Pressure-gas services include a fully assembled secondary check, serviceable from the front, that stops flow when the finish assembly is removed. Vacuum and WAGD services do not have secondary check valves, per NFPA 99. Wall thickness range is 0.50 inch (13 mm) minimum to 1.25 inch (3.17 cm) maximum.
Key features
- Gas-specific 16 gauge steel plate with cast-in gas identification and non-removable pin-keying.
- 360-degree swiveling 1/2 inch type K copper inlet, labeled by gas name and color.
- Front-serviceable secondary check on pressure gases; none on vacuum/WAGD.
- Same rough-in part numbers serve Geometric and Pin-Index finishes for a given gas; the finish assembly is the keyed front.
- Listed by UL and CSA and manufactured to applicable NFPA 99, CGA, and CSA standards. Cleaned for oxygen service, pressure tested, capped, and bagged before shipment.
Rough-in part numbers (SSB-840-22 / SSB-840-24)
Part numbers from the official BeaconMedaes recessed-outlet datasheets. Geometric Index and Pin-Index (Diamond) styles share these rough-in numbers.
