Workflows

What a workflow is

A workflow is a structured, step-by-step operational procedure for a specific task — for example, a startup procedure for a particular manifold system, or an inspection checklist for a regulator type.

Workflows are:

  • Tied to equipment — each workflow is associated with one or more equipment types. You can reach a workflow from the associated equipment page, or by searching the library directly.
  • Facility-specific — you will only see workflows that your facility has access to.
  • Maintained by Lantern — workflow content is authored and updated by Lantern administrators. You cannot edit workflow content.

How to find a workflow

From an equipment page: Scroll to the bottom of the equipment page. A list of associated workflows will appear. Click a workflow title to open it.

From the library: Use the search bar to search by workflow name or keyword. You can also filter the library view to show Workflows only.

How to use a workflow

Open the workflow and follow the steps in order from top to bottom. Each workflow is structured as a sequence of steps. Some workflows may include:

  • Checkboxes for each step
  • Reference images or diagrams
  • Linked documents or attachments
  • Notes and warnings

If you have questions about a step, use the comment section on the workflow page (if enabled) to ask, or contact your supervisor.

Saving a workflow to Favorites

  1. Open the workflow page.
  2. Click the Favorites icon.
  3. The workflow will appear in your Favorites list for quick access.

This is useful for workflows you use frequently. Saving a workflow does not start or complete it — it is just a bookmark.

What you cannot do with workflows

  • Create or edit workflows. Workflow authoring is handled by Lantern administrators.
  • Access workflows outside your facility’s allowed list. Attempting to access a workflow URL from a different facility will result in a “not found” page.
