1. FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 13

You can contact Us to obtain more information about the Programs that We provide by filling out the form on Our Website, and providing the following information: parent/guardian name, student name, parent phone, parent email, and student’s grade level. However, You are not required to provide Us with this information.

1.2. For any student under the age of 13 whose Personal Information We collect, We must have permission from such student’s parent or legal guardian before We collect or use any Personal Information of such student. By providing any Personal Information of any student under the age of 13, You represent and warrant that You are the student’s parent or guardian, and You have the authority to provide such Personal Information.

1.3. You are welcome to contact Us at (844) 215-3135 or Info@LanternAcademy.Com to review any Personal Information We have collected about Your child. You may request that We delete this information or specify that We collect no more of Your child’s information. We will need to verify the identity of anyone requesting information about a child under the age of 13 to ensure that the person is in fact the child’s parent or legal guardian.

1.4. Our Programs are specifically designed to function without third party access to a child’s Personal Information. We do not collect or retain any Personal Information from a child except as needed to facilitate the Programs for that child, who may be a minor. We are committed to complying fully with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (“COPPA”).

3.1. We may also collect Personal Information related to Your documentation of and payment for the Programs; questions related to Programs; school information; teacher feedback of a student (once the You provide consent for submission); and content You upload but NOT for the purposes of transmitting it to another user or for public display on the Website. 

4. FINANCIAL INFORMATION

4.1. If You elect to pay with a credit card, We will collect Your name, credit card number, expiration date, and address information associated with the account. All financial information, other than credit card numbers, is stored and encrypted in Our system. We do not store credit card numbers.

Tutors, teachers, instructors, and experts (“Professionals”) who seek to enter into independent contractor agreements with Us are asked to provide additional Personal Information in support of the Professional’s respective skills and experience, as well as a social security number or taxpayer identification number for tax purposes, as necessary to facilitate payment and to comply with legal obligations or to complete a background check. Professionals also have choices about the information the Professional chooses to include on the Professional’s profile on the Website once under contract, such as education, work experience, skills, city or area, likes or interests, photo, etc.

8.2. We also collect bank account information to facilitate payment.

If You authorize another person to act as Your agent to submit requests on Your behalf, then unless You provide the agent with power of attorney under the California Probate Code, We will ask the agent to provide Us the written and signed authorization that You provided to the agent, We will confirm with You that You did provide the authorization, and We will verify Your identity. If You submit a request on behalf of a minor child, We will ask You to provide Us information about Your child that allows Us to determine that You are the parent or guardian of the child. If the child is under the age of 13, We will ask You to sign a form declaring under penalty of perjury that You are the parent or guardian of the child.
